PR 6424 is a non-contact eddy current sensor with a robust structure, designed specifically for critical turbomachinery applications
such as steam, gas, compressors and hydro turbines, blowers and fans.
The purpose of a displacement probe is to measure position or axis motion without contacting the measuring surface rotor. For sleeve
bearing machines, there is a thin oil film between the shaft and the bearing material. Oil acts as a damper, so the vibration and
position of the shaft will not be transmitted to the bearing housing through the bearings.
Use equipment with eddy current sensors to measure systems, such as PR 6422, PR 6423, PR 6424; PR 6425 and PR 6426, in
conjunction with eddy current converters (such as CON 011 CON 021、CON 041）、 MMS 3000 series transmitters with
integrated converters or transmitter CSI 9360 can be used in conjunction to measure mechanical quantities such as shaft
vibration, shaft displacement, and velocity (not if CSI 9360 is used). It is not recommended to use
shell vibration sensors to monitor sleeve bearing machines
Because the vibration generated by shaft movement or position will be greatly attenuated by the bearing oil film. The ideal
method for monitoring shaft position and motion is to directly measure shaft motion and position through bearings or by
installing non-contact eddy current sensors inside the bearings. PR 6424 is commonly used to measure the vibration,
eccentricity, thrust (axial displacement), differential expansion, valve position, and air gap of machine shafts.
